My hope is to create art that speaks to our shared humanity.
Most of us have loved, had moments of pure joy, and perhaps even experienced great personal loss or moments of deep sadness. Feelings and memories that are trapped in time that we can’t easily describe, but can vividly recall. I strive to create pieces that encourage us to stop, take a breath, and experience a moment of peace and joy.
My art language is Abstract Expressionism, with a floral signature. I use bright colors muted by neutral pigments, punctuated with bold strokes. I strive to capture the essence of movement and fluidity with floral designs and bold abstraction, while expressing an emotional undercurrent. My paintings are colorful and joyful, a gentle distraction from the intensity of today’s world.
Michon has always been an artist at heart. But only in the past few years has she finally fulfilled her dream of painting full-time. A graduate of the University of Idaho with a degree in journalism, advertising, and graphic arts, her first career was as a graphic designer in the printing industry. In the early 2000s, Michon co-owned and operated a successful student educational travel company. After the 2017 California wildfires, she worked as a videographer in local news media, while also operating an interior design and home staging business in Sonoma County. After 13 successful years in home design, Michon finally seized the chance to focus on painting. She has continued her artistic studies with the prominent and well-known artists Sandra Speidel, Louise Fletcher, and Nicholas Wilton.
